8 Tips To Get More Traffic From Yahoo

8 Tips To Get More Traffic From Yahoo

By Vishal Rao

With the new Yahoo! "Pay-For-Review" model it might be relatively easier for sites to get into the directory but
getting traffic from your listing is altogether a different story. And now with it's new annual recurring payment policy
you have to be extra careful while Submitting your Site Here :http://www.anoox.com/?aff_id=7638  for a review. Here are 8 things to keep in mind while submitting your site to Yahoo!
1) Selecting your domain name here: http://goo.gl/wF24lz is the most vital step in getting a top ranking in Yahoo! and also other directories
like Dmoz and Looksmart.
Make sure your domain name is "Keyword Rich". You can make your domain keyword rich by simply inserting hyphens to separate words in your domain name. Yahoo! gives more relevance to sites with keywords in their domain name.

It is made up of 4 different high-in-demand keywords: "Home Based Business", "Home Business": http://globalgate.surveys24.hop.clickbank.net "Home Based Business Opportunities".

While crafting your domain name, even you should try to keep your domain name such that it is made up of one, 2-4 words main or "parent" keyword; which in turn is made up of 2-4 high-in-demand "child" keywords.
You may or may not get a top ranking for all your targeted keywords but you can be sure of getting one for your main or "parent" keyword (If you do everything else right). http://globalgate.surveys24.hop.clickbank.net
Even if you have to get a separate domain name for this purpose, GET IT! It is absolutely crucial for your ranking.
2) Sites which are placed higher in directory structure are given more relevance than sites which are placed lower or
deeper.
For example a site listed in category - B2B/Business_Opportunities will be given more relevance than a site listed in category - B2B/Business_Opportunities/Directories
Here's a great tip to select the most trafficked category for your website...
Once you have short-listed 2 or 3 category to place your site in to, check out the cost of Sponsor Listings of those
categories. It's really simple. Visit the following URL: https://ecom.yahoo.com/fast/sponsor
Enter the URL of any website that is listed in your desired category (The URL should be same as it appears in Yahoo! and the category should be a commercial category).
-----SIDEBAR-----
Please note that Yahoo! accepts Sponsor Listings for only certain commercial categories and so this tip may or may not work for your category.
-----SIDEBAR-----
You'll be asked for your Yahoo! ID. Once you submit the information, you'll be provided with the Sponsorship charges for that certain category. Repeat the process for your remaining short-listed categories.
Now compare the prices of all your short-listed categories. Naturally the one with a higher price is the most trafficked one!

3) Yahoo! considers keywords in the directory structure while ranking.
For example, if someone is searching for "Business Opportunities Directories", a web site listed in category -
B2B/Business_Opportunities/Directories will be given more relevance than a web site listed in category - B2B/Business_Opportunities

4) Yahoo! DOES NOT spider websites to determine ranking. It ranks web sites based on keywords in domain name, title and description. So having META tags does not make any difference to your listing.

5) DO NOT try to stuff as much keywords as possible in to the description. Yahoo! editors are notorious for cutting
down the description if they sense even slightest hype. Try to avoid words such as - no.1, proven, turnkey, exciting
etc.
Also, make sure that the heading of your home page is same as the description you provided for your site. There should be no confusion in the mind of the editor reviewing your site.

6) Make sure your domain name and business name is the same since Yahoo! is known to use the business name as the title for your listing.

7) Make sure your website is "Content Rich". This is very critical for two reasons. One - to get your site
accepted by Yahoo! and Second - to maintain and get a higher listing.
Yahoo! determines the popularity of a website by the amount of time a visitor spends on your website. If a large no. of them hit the "back button" of their browser as soon as they hit your web site, you can kiss goodbye to your dreams of a possible higher listing.
Once you get a lower listing, it can get very difficult to make up as visitors will not be able to find your site
easily.
-----SIDEBAR-----
Once a site gets accepted into the directory, Yahoo! ranks it based on the keyword popularity in domain name, title and description. But as time progresses, it determines the ranking based on the popularity of the website itself.
We ignored this and our listing came down drastically within few days of getting accepted!
-----SIDEBAR-----

8) Before submitting your website, thoroughly research websites that rank higher for keywords you are targeting (Especially the "Most Popular" sites in the directory section). This will give you a rough idea of what to and what not to include in your website.

Simple steps to gorgeous holiday hair and makeup

Simple steps to gorgeous holiday hair and makeup

(BPT) - You’re donning a cute cozy sweater, you’ve decked the halls at home and now it’s time to dazzle with beautiful holiday hair and makeup.
EcoTools Beauty Team members and expert stylists Christine Symonds and Teni Panosian have created a complete holiday hair and makeup look that, with just a few simple steps, will have your style merry and bright for any event.
Holiday makeup: classic and flawless
“This time of year there's certainly no shortage of seasonal celebrations, and a classic makeup look is always a crowd pleaser,” says Panosian, YouTube beauty star and voice behind MissMaven.com. “Using tools from the three limited-edition EcoTools holiday sets, it’s easy to achieve a flawless, festive look.”
Step 1. Using the Skin Perfecting Brush from the Four-Piece Beautiful Complexion Set, apply your favorite foundation.
Step 2. Taking the Precision Foundation Brush from the Festive & Flawless Face Set, apply concealer under your eyes and around your mouth. Also dab a little bit into the center of your forehead to brighten and conceal.
Step 3. Also from the Festive & Flawless Face Set, take the Buffing Concealer Brush and blend the concealer using small, circular motions for an even and flawless base.
Step 4. Going back to the Four-Piece Beautiful Complexion Set, grab the Mattifying Finish Brush and a matte bronzer to give your skin a bit of warmth. Apply the bronzer into the hollows of your cheeks, along your jawline and into your hairline.
Step 5. Using the same brush, sweep a soft, neutral pink blush onto your cheeks for a natural, rosy look. Then, set your makeup by applying a translucent powder using the Full Powder Brush from the Festive & Flawless Face Set.
Step 6. To add a healthy glow, take the Complexion Blending Brush from the same Festive & Flawless Face Set and dab on your favorite powder highlighter to the high points of your cheekbones, your brow bone, and above the arches of your eyebrows.
Step 7. For the eyes, take the Angled Eyeliner Brush from the Mini Essentials Holiday Set and begin applying a black gel eyeliner at the inner corner of your eye, slowly working your way to the outer corner. At the outer corner, create a wing of your desired thickness and fill it in.
Step 8. To complete the eyes, apply a few coats of your favorite mascara to both the top and bottom lashes.
Step 9. Moving on to the lips, apply a bright red matte lip color. Beauty tip: To clean up the edges of your lipstick, use a concealer brush to apply a tiny amount of concealer at the edge of your lips, creating a clean, crisp edge. Then blend the concealer outward and you’re done!
Holiday headband twist
“A simple go-to hairstyle with a touch of pizazz is ideal for any holiday gathering,” says celebrity hair stylist Symonds. “This headband twist offers a hint of sparkle that you’ll want to wear all season long.”
Step 1. Comb through dry, clean hair or second-day hair with the Styler + Smoother Hair Brush to smooth out any tangles.
Step 2. Taking a section of hair at the crown of the head, lightly backcomb downward to create volume. Repeat this again a few times, grabbing more hair as you go. When the desired volume is reached, gently smooth out the top without disrupting the volume you just created.
Step 3. Place your headband (hello, sparkles!) at the desired position on your head, on top of all of your hair. Then, secure it at the nape of the neck with a few bobby pins.
Step 4. One at a time, take the two side sections in front of each ear and lightly twist them back and into the headband. The elasticity of the headband will hold them in place.
Step 5. Now that all of your hair is set back, split it into two sections and loosely braid each one. Doing this creates texture and control for when you twist them back into the base of the headband. Secure each braid with a clear elastic.
Step 6. Go back in with your fingers and pull each braid apart slightly to create a fuller, more “undone” look. Then, take one of the braids and weave it through the back side of the headband, leave the ends hanging down. Repeat on the other side.
Step 7. Tuck both ends into the loop to hide them and secure with bobby pins.
Step 8. Spray your entire head with a medium-hold hairspray and you’re ready to party all night!

Out of gift ideas? Surprise loved ones with meaningful gifts they'll adore

Out of gift ideas? Surprise loved ones with meaningful gifts they'll adore

(BPT) - Exchanging gifts is a cherished part of the holiday season, but after celebrating for so many years with your loved ones, it’s easy to get in a gift-giving rut. Resist defaulting to the same old robe, coffee mug or tie. This year, make their holiday extra merry with thoughtful gift ideas they’ll truly love.
Great gift idea #1: A beloved bookIn the age of emails and ebooks, flipping through the paper pages of a book can quickly evoke memories of the past. The gift of a book can have great meaning when thoughtfully selected. For example, find an early edition or signed copy of your loved one’s favorite literary work. Another great idea is to gift a favorite picture book from childhood, or one she often read to her children before bed.
Great gift idea #2: Framed photography: A picture is worth a thousand words, but having that picture professionally framed means you’ll leave your loved one speechless. It may seem like a lot of work to find just the right frame, but companies like Livestock Framing offer an all-inclusive service that makes the process simple. Visit www.LivestockFraming.com, upload your photo and choose from four frame colors and six different sizes. They’ll ship a museum-quality print, carefully matted and framed by artisans in Portland, Oregon, directly to you or the recipient. They’ll even touch-up the photo and ship it for free. In just a couple steps you’ll create a gift that will be loved today and for many years to come.
Great gift idea #3: An experience
Time together is one of the most valuable things you can give someone, so consider gifting an experience for you and your loved one to do together. This could be a cooking class, tickets to a sporting event, a hot air balloon ride or a luxury spa weekend. Another fun experiential present would be to recreate something meaningful you did in the past. Perhaps plan a day to revisit where you got engaged or organize a trip to a favorite childhood vacation spot. Think about any special activity or place of meaning and surprise your loved one with a day to go have fun.
Great gift idea #4: Much-appreciated services
Finding a gift for a person who seems to have it all can feel daunting. In these cases it’s time to think outside the gift box and consider unique services that would make their life a little easier or more luxurious. For example, how about a top-to-bottom house cleaning from a local maid service? Meal delivery is fantastic for busy parents and career go-getters. From hiring a personal shopper to getting a nanny for a much-needed evening out, a gifted service is sure to make a big impression this holiday season and beyond.
Great gift idea #5: Modern "of the month" clubs
It’s fun to gift something the recipient can enjoy throughout the year, and monthly membership clubs can be a fantastic gift. Skip the jam and jelly club in lieu of sophisticated modern alternatives. Memberships exist for virtually anything you can imagine, from weekly wine and flower deliveries to exotic desserts and upscale makeup supplies. Think about what your loved one enjoys and search online for the perfect club membership. Every delivery throughout the year they’ll be reminded of your thoughtful gesture.

Six style tips to prepare your home for the holiday season

(BPT) - Bored with the whirlwind of red and green decor that inundates every home during the holiday season? This year, more homeowners are thinking beyond the traditional when decorating for winter celebrations. Expert insight into the year’s top decor trends can help anyone create impressive, elegant holiday style with minimal effort.

“Red and green will always be classic, but when it comes to holiday decor, rules are meant to be broken,” says Kirsty Froelich, design director for The Tile Shop. “Anyone can use inventive color schemes, fun patterns and smart home updates to create spaces that embrace the essence of the season.”

Froelich notes six top trends to keep in mind when decorating for the holiday season:
1. Feel festive with florals
An easy first step to bring your home into the holiday season is to add festive fresh or dry floral arrangements. Evergreens and poinsettias always convey the essence of the season, but blooms in hues of rich purple, crisp white and even funky fuchsia will add cheerful energy to any room. A small floral arrangement on a bathroom vanity, for example, adds warmth and color — a particularly nice touch if you’re hosting guests.

2. Beautify with backsplashes
Tiling your backsplash is an easy update that instantly upgrades a kitchen or bar space, and serves as a great conversation starter for guests. Start this project in the fall so you have plenty of time to finish before the thick of the holidays. A backsplash also can be a relatively inexpensive project with a stunning impact.
3. Be merry with metallics
To create a show-stopping visual effect, use metallics in details throughout your home. Chrome and nickel are hot, and there’s a current resurgence of brass and gold. If you have metal in your backsplash tiles, add a centerpiece in the same metal to tie the entire room together. Keep in mind that less is more. Thoughtful touches of holiday decor will have bigger visual impact than an overload of figurines and frills.
4. Get jolly with geometric patterns
From gift wrap to seasonal fabric, geometric patterns are on trend for the upcoming holiday. A gorgeous geometric tablecloth is the ideal backdrop for a big family feast. Geometric mosaic backsplashes, like the Penny Round Gloss White Porcelain Mosaic Tile, leave a lasting impression during the holiday season and into the new year. Finally, geometric wrapping paper in vivid colors like teal or chartreuse, make for an extra stylish tree.
5. Wow with window treatments
Don’t overlook the potential of your windows when adding holiday pizzazz to your home. By using fabrics that feature a festive theme or pattern, you can easily create temporary window treatments that bring a space together. Simply visit your local craft store, pick out a bolt of two of fabric that blends with your holiday aesthetic, and have the appropriate lengths cut. Then simply drape and enjoy.
6. Give your fireplace a faceliftA fireplace is the quintessential gathering spot for friends and family during holiday celebrations. A sleek stone makeover will update any drab or dated fireplace into a stylish focal point in your home. Add extra ambiance with candles, flowers and other simple decor on the mantel to make the space feel special.
“There’s no better time to let your home shine than the holidays,” says Froelich. “Adding holiday greenery, a few metallic touches and whimsical window updates will make your home feel festive. Now’s the perfect time to get that tile project done that’s been on the back burner, so you can show off your hard work and the amazing new space to all visitors.”

Putting Your Website to Work

Websites have replaced the brochure as the “must have” marketing tool for businesses large and small. While virtually every business has a website, few are harnessing the potential of their websites and the Internet in general to promote and grow their businesses. So how can you be sure your website is working for you?
First, you must look at the role you want your website to play in your overall business and marketing strategy. As with any tool you use to promote your business, your web promotion activities must be built on a strong foundation. Start by determining the purpose of your website. Is it primarily informational or are on-line sales a major source of revenues for your company? Are you expecting people to find out about your company through on-line searches or are you primarily using your site as a place to send people for more information after an “off-line” contact? Other purposes for your site include:
· Building credibility
· Generating sales leads
· Developing a database
· Building relationships
Your site may also have non-promotional functions such as on-line forms processing or customer service applications.
You must consider who the target market is for your site. Is it a market that uses the web? And if so, how and for what do they use it? Some individuals may use the Internet primarily for e-mail, never accessing websites. Others may use it primarily for research and never make on-line purchases.
The look and feel of your site as well as the content are key considerations. In addition, architectural concerns such as load times must be taken into account. Do the majority of your clients have high speed internet access or is a large portion of your market using dial-up access. It is useless to have a site with all the latest bells and whistles if the majority of visitors abandon the site without ever seeing or hearing them due to long load times.
Just because you build it doesn’t mean they will come. Having a top notch website is only half the battle. Like glossy, four color brochures that sit in boxes in the storage closet or the exquisitely designed retail store that no one visits, your website is useless unless there is traffic. If you don’t have a tracking program on your site than you are not capitalizing on one of the most powerful features of a website: the ability to track results. Be prepared for a big disappointment though when you begin tracking. Most website average less than three visitors a day.
It is important to use both on-line and off-line strategies to drive traffic to your site. Off-line strategies include being sure that your website address is on all your printed materials, using direct mail to drive people to the site and personal contacts through activities like presentations and networking.
While Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is often considered the best way to get visitors to a site, it can be expensive and is not feasible for all businesses. Search Engine Optimization is the art and science (probably more art than science) of getting your site listed near the top when a potential customer searches on a key word or phrase such as “auto loans”. Click here : https://www.seoprofiler.com/#a_aid=Jayiyke
Search engines use a variety of ever changing factors to determine listing order including site content, website architecture, source code referred to as meta tags, and the number of links to your site from other related sites. There are companies that generate the majority of their revenues providing Search Engine Optimization services. For many smaller companies the cost is prohibitive. However, even if you are a very small company you can be sure the content on your site includes the key words you want to be listed under. Linking to the sites of businesses that are complimentary to yours and asking them to link to you can also improve search engine ranking.
Pay for performance options such a Google Ad Words or listings on Overture offer another relatively inexpensive option for driving traffic to your site. The “sponsored site” listings at the top or down the side are companies that have purchased key words in order to appear in prime locations when someone searches on that word.
There are hundreds of sites that you can post content to in the form of articles. These articles can be picked up and used by publishers of on-line newsletters – large and small. Writing articles related to your business and posting them to these sites can generate a tremendous amount of traffic and costs only the time it takes you to write and post the articles.
So you’ve got a great website and you’re generating traffic. Now what? How do you assure that you are capitalizing on the traffic you are generating? First you must determine what action you want visitors to take. Do you want them to sign-up for your free newsletter, purchase a product, fill out a contact form or request additional information? To determine the action you want a visitor to take, look back at the role you want your site to play in your overall business and marketing strategy.
The three key ingredients for a website that helps you promote and grow your business are:
· design and content of the site
· driving traffic to the site
· getting visitors to take action
If any one of these ingredients is missing your results will be less than optimal.
The Internet has had the greatest impact on how companies market their products and services and offers the most potential for new and innovative marketing strategies of any promotional vehicle since the invention of television. And, at least for now, the Internet provides a more level playing field for small companies than other promotional tools. How can your company capitalize on the power of the Internet?
